HAYAI ZUSHI’S PINK POWER ROLL, MARS ROLL AND MORE COMING TO A GROCERY STORE NEAR YOU

SALT LAKE CITY – June 8, 2009 – Dan’s, Macey’s and Dick’s grocery stores along the Wasatch Front will now be carrying a line of healthful, fast and incredibly fresh dishes from renowned master sushi chef Peggi Whiting’s new restaurant, Hayai Zushi, the companies announced.

“It’s great to be a part of two Utah’s Own companies working together to provide quality products to the community,” said Steve Reich, vice president of marketing for Associated Retail Stores. “We are so excited for our guests to have Peggi’s sushi right in their neighborhood.”

Well-known in Utah for her longtime ownership of Salt Lake’s popular Ichiban Sushi restaurant that she sold in 2003, Whiting has been recognized and celebrated for her outstanding cuisine. Whiting trained with legendary sushi chef Master Inou in Japan more than 20 years ago. In 2006, Whiting introduced Seal Sama – an original line of locally made teriyaki sauces – which is also available in Associated Retail Stores.

“It is exciting to see Hayai Zushi products available in such highly reputable grocery stores, like Macey’s, Dan’s and Dick’s markets,” said Whiting. “This is a great partnership for us, and we look forward to expanding the selection of products.”

Hayai Zushi, which Whiting and business partner Keith Guevara opened on April 8, is the first drive thru sushi/teriyaki restaurant of its kind in the region. The restaurant offers a range of simplified, mainstream Japanese cuisine with sushi rolls, teriyaki bowls and bento boxes. Macey’s, Dan’s Foods and Dick’s Markets will carry items such as the Mars Roll, Pink Power Roll, California Roll, Jazz Roll, Seaweed Salad, Squid Salad and Edamame.

The fresh sushi will complement the other fresh offerings at Macey’s, Dan’s or Dick’s, with 17 locations along the Wasatch Front. Associated Retailers are renowned for their family and budget-friendly grocery stores.
